I'm BACK!

Those of you in the blogging world may call me Aja. It sounds like Asia, for those of you who may be confused by the pronunciation. I am a freshman attending UMBC and I enjoy blogging. Ever since I was about 15 years old I learned the craft of web design. From there I decided to enter the blogging world, expressing my feelings, opinions, desires, and accomplishments. I find it extremely ironic that blogging must now become part of my academic life. I find it amusing and comforting. I think that blogging is a good way to release feelings. I've been doing for quite some time on my own domain, Junkyardesque.org. I usually talk about my life and my opinions on things. It keeps me busy. I think it's healthy to express your opinion on issues. Althought I haven't blogged on my site in over a month, I still have some things to say. Now, I must clean up my act and focus on certain topics, one of those being the media.

When I watch television, listen to the radio, or brush up on my current affiliates in the blogging atmosphere, I learn something new about what's going on in the world and other people's opinions on it. I rarely sit on the couch and watch television without having something I need to watch. DVR is my friend, so I'm only watching my usually recorded programs that I always seem to miss, or the news. I think it's extremely important for people (young people especially) to know what's going on in the world. If I'm not watching the news, then I'm on the internet. Youtube and blogs bring me closer to what's going on in the world aswell. I get a better understanding of what's going on and how people feel about it. I feel newspapers are a dead source of media and communication. Just about everything in a newspaper can be found on the internet. To be honest, the last time I picked up a news paper was for a school project in which a newspaper article was required. That was about two years ago. The radio is another source of media that I do pay attention to, especially when I'm in the car. When I hear about important topics in America on Michael Baisden or Steve Harvey, I sit in my car talking to the radio either disagreeing or agreeing. Ha! Don't think I'm crazy now. I'm sure you do it too.

There is one part of the media that I can NOT stand! Paparazzi and reporters! They annoy me so much in interviews and on the news. Like flies basically, they just bug you until you can't take it anymore leaving you in a position in which you have to pull a Kanye West on their ass! I couldn't write a blog about the media without expressing my extreme dislike for those annoying humans.

This year, I plan to follow Ben Smith's political blog Politico. As I skimmed over his most recent entries, I found them entertaining and relevant to the 2008 election. He even used youtube as a source for one of his blogs, something I do often.

Well until next time!
